Artist in Need a New Tablet

Who:

Howdy!

My name is Kendra and I am a Freelance artist from California who specializes in custom pieces primarily for private parties and the occasional game art, Manga pieces, Business Logos and College Mascot design.

My works are heavily fantasy oriented but range far from realistic portraiture to the weird and magical, and unlike most artists in the world, I offer my work at an affordable price that even a broke college student can afford. Aside from that, I also create and publish tutorials, and do live studies with other artists and use live streaming and my tablet to teach younger people my tricks. =)

PROBLEM:

My mind is always filled to the brim with ideas. One of these ideas has found its way to paper and to the net in the form of a Manga (comic) . I have been fleshing out a story I have cultivated for years and managed to render several pages in full color on Inkblazers.com, and have gotten some really positive feedback within just a few days of having the pages posted.

Sadly the comic has been dormant for some time now… Put on hold because the tablet I have been using decided that it does not always want to turn on let alone work properly. The few times it actually turns on, it mostly ends up having  no pressure sensitivity and horrible relay time so I have nothing but harsh, solid, glitchy lines. (look at the intro pic at the wings and you can see what I mean) Having tried everything to fix it, I am facing the no longer avoidable decision of replacing it.

THE GOAL!

Ideally any digital artist would prefer to have a Wacom Cintiq but those range far too high in price, starting in the lower end at $2000. Having a large screen to physically work on when drawing and seeing your movements appear under your hand… There is nothing better for an artist, it is just like having the physical pencil and paper but better. These tablets are unfortunately few and far between, so I have done my research and found the perfect alternative. The tablet I am looking to replace mine with, is called a Huion GT-190. This product has great reviews and is comparable to the Cintiq but at 1/4 the cost. The low end price after shipping and taxes is about $500 while the high end “pro” model is about $700. (rounded up to account for GFM fees, taxes, ect.)
So That is the goal amount, $700!

Now I could always buy a cheap little $100 tablet, but the quality of my work would greatly suffer due to the poor pressure and relay quality of the cheap tablets and I would not be able to offer up the same work as I have been. Not to mention, cheaper tablets are generally small and no more than 8 inched in width for the usable surface and show no picture unless hard-lined into a computer and even then they only show on the computer, making you have to keep eyes up while trying to draw.

Why Should You Care?

Without a new tablet my work cannot continue. My fans will become frustrated and uninterested in my work and stop following me, leading to less work coming in for me and a dent in my income. Current projects won’t be able to be completed and I will have to refund all of the folks who commissioned me. Long story short, my brand will get a bad name and my artistic dreams crashed on the pavement.

If You Help Me:

You will have my complete and utter respect and gratitude.

I can’t offer much in return, obviously if I could I wouldn’t be here (lol) but I will offer up all that I can…

Here is a list of what I can offer if you donate:
Every donation "tier" will recieve the things on the previous tiers as well.

$30 -- A Refined and Colored sketch of any character you want. (once the tablet arrives) Will look somethign like this:

$75 --

What If I Greatly Surpass My Goal?

Well that would be great!!
If I pass the goal and reach enough to get a Cintiq, that will be my aim!
If I pass my goal, but don't reach enough to get the Cintiq, I will use the remaining funds to either offer a surprise gift (If there is enough over the target budget) or pay it forward and donate to other struggling artists here on GoFundMe =)
