Sweet Shears Barber & Beauty is located in Saint Louis, Missouri in the historic Cherokee Street neighborhood. The owner, Angela Lee, first moved to Cherokee over 20 years ago. Angela works along side her son, PJ, and her mother, Delores.
Shortly after Christmas, Angela was served a court summons requiring her appearance on January 14th at 9:30am in Saint Louis City courts. If she can't pay her back rent of $7,800 by the end of the month, she will be evicted and have her things put out on the street.
Sweet Shears isn’t just a barber shop, it's an institution. It's a second home to three generations of loyal customers, friends, family and everyone in between. Its a safe place for you to come and spend time with your neighbors and discuss local news, sports and politics. Just as she has over the past two decades, Angie continues to touch the lives of the community and provide a shelter for all those that enter her shop.
Sweet Shears also plays an integral role in the rebirth of a historic Saint Louis neighborhood. They are one of the oldest businesses on the street, and trained many of the barbers in the neighborhood.
I am the proprietor of a bar across the street from Sweet Shears. When we found out that Sweet Shears was in trouble, we volunteered to help them put together a campaign with gofundme.
All money raised will go towards paying all the back rent as well as a little to get ahead on.
If you could find it in your heart to help us give Angie a second chance, we would be forever grateful.
Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to hear to our story.
