Hello Family, Friends, and Strangers!
As you may or may not know, our Dad, Kevin Shepardson, suffered a sudden cardiac arrest on New Year's Eve 2014. He was flown to Las Vegas, NV where we have some amazing long time family friends that have allowed us to take over their home, but no family support there. Since his arrival into medical care, he has gone from a medically induced coma to being sedated. He has not been responsive to commands . He struggles with the ventilator, so his breathing tube will soon be moved to his trachea and a feeding tube will be added. We know he has global brain damage due to lack of oxygen, but we have no idea how much until he wakes up. All of his kids live in the metro-Phoenix area, and if he were moved to be closer to his kids, we would be able to help our Mom and Dad through this tough time more effectively than from afar.
We are asking for help in transporting him because insurance will not pay for another transport. We have done our best to ensure our Mom is not alone, but knowing Dad's recovery is likely to take a long time, none of us can sustain constant trips to Las Vegas.
