Mikey's Surgery

Donation protected
Michael was born with TAR (Thrombocytopenia-absent radius) syndrome, a genetic disease that is characterized by the absence of a bone called the radius, in each forearm. It has also impacted the growth and development of his legs, requiring painful braces to walk.  Mikey depends on a wheelchair to get him around school each day.  Other than that, Mikey is your average 5th grade boy.  Mikey has the grit, determination and deep desire to be just like everyone else and works very hard to achieve his goals.  He is truly an inspiration to everyone he meets.

In March 2015, Mikey will undergo multiple surgeries on his legs that will eliminate the need for braces and make walking a greater possibility for him.  This painful surgery will require 6 weeks of rehabilitation and physical therapy before he can return home.  This surgery is performed at a hospital in Florida, which will require his mother to be with him and out of work for up to 3 months.

This Go Fund Me page is to provide support for Mikey and his family during this exciting but stressful time.  We are hoping to raise enough money to help cover wages lost and expenses related to Mikey's surgery and recovery.
