IVF

Many of our close friends and family are aware of the heartache that we have been through the past few years on our journey to becoming parents, but now we would like to share our story with everyone as we are wanted to start our 2nd cycle of IVF.

We started our journey to become parents 5 years ago by trying to have a baby when we first started trying we were really excited but after 2 years of trying we decided to seek medical advise after various of tests we were told that my husband had a low sperm count. Doctors recommended that we try clomiphenne for 6 months to help me release more eggs so theirs more chance of becoming pregnant. After 6 months we still had no success.

We were advised by doctors that they were going to apply for funding for us for ivf as they told us that their was a good chance to become pregnant. We waited for a few months to hear whether we got accepted for funding, the day I received the phone call that we had been accepted for 1 cycle of IVF due to the NHS funded postcode lottery, we were excited that we had a chance at 1 cycle, we didn't understand that if we lived 40 mins down road we would be entitled to 2 cycles of IVF.

October 2013 we had our first appointment at midland fertility clinic, after various tests we discovered that my husband had low motility and that it would be very unlikely that he would father a child naturally, which we found devastating and was told that ICSI treatment would be our best chance.

24th December 2013 we went to collect all medication for IVF icsi. We were very excited that we were getting a chance to try have a baby. We were told that we had a very good chance of treatment being successful.

January 2014 we began our treatment which involved daily injections which my husband administered which went on for a few weeks and in them two weeks we had to travel up to Aldridge for more tests to see when I was ready for my eggs to be collected. My eggs were collected which this procedure was very uncomfortable, I managed to have 15 eggs they were then all injected with my husbands sample which 7 of them fertilised and 2 were frozen the remaing 5 were then put in blasto cyst culture to see which were the strongest a few days later I was then ready to have 1 embryo transfered into my womb. It was then the waiting game to see if treatment had worked. It was the longest 14 days of mine and my husbands lives, during this time we started to get our hopes up and started imagining our lives with our baby, it then was the day to do pregnancy test which we were so nervous about. We took the test and felt over joyed whilst waiting for result unfortunately that joy and happiness was shattered and turned into the feeling of mourning for the child that wasn't their.

This was a very hard time for us as this was our only chance at having a baby it took us a lot of time to put this pain behind us even tho it will always be their, we have tried to except that we wouldn't have a baby but we don't feel that is an option as their is nothing we want more than a bundle of joy in our arms for us to love and care for the rest of our lives.

We are now trying to raise money for another cycle of IVF/ICSI. We felt quite cheeky asking people to donate but we know this is the only way for us to raise enough money for treatment. We are hoping to raise enough money for 2 cycles so if first cycle don't work then we can have another chance. If our first cycle is successful which hopefully it is then we will be donating our other cycle to a couple that are in same position as us.
Any donations are welcome or even if you just spread the word we very greatfull.
