Kaylin's Mexico Mission Trip 2017

Don protégé
When I was in eighth grade I started taking Spanish in school, and I remember being so excited to take Spanish that I would study for fun.  I thought it was so cool that one day I would be able to speak in Spanish fluently one day. That passion followed me all the way up until now. Looking back, I can see where God was working in my life, because even as a eighth-grader He was calling me to Mexico.
I'm I believe it was after my freshman year I was sitting in church on Sunday and I began to crave Mexico. I saw the powerpoint for the A Heart for Mexico mission trip and I felt deeply called to go. My mom told me she thought I was too young, and I completely agreed with her.
However, that didn't stop my heart from wanting to go, so after sophomore year when I saw the same powerpoint, my mom decided to go with me to the Mexico mission trip meeting and we talked to the guy in charge of it for a little bit, and my mom really considered going with me. She thought I was still too young to go alone, but if she could go with me then she would let me go. However, there was no way that we could afford for both of us to go on this trip. I ened up not being able to go that year either. Then after my junior year, my heart was still calling me to Mexico, and my mom finally thought felt comfortable letting me go. Now that I am looking back on it, I know that this was all Gods timing, because I nailed my life down for the Lord my sophomore year. Going before then probably would not have fulfilled God's will the same as going before my junior year.
So I went. I finally went on the mission trip the summer after my junior year, which was also the perfect summer for me to go. I was going through a really rough time at that point, and I believed I learned so much in Mexico because of my hurting and open heart.
My first year in Mexico was unique because almost everyone that had served in the vacation Bible school area before was not coming back. There was only one kid coming back, and he was two years younger that me.  We had a new VBS director and we had all new volunteers with us that year. We have literally shaped VBS in Atlixco, Mexico now, and it is beautiful the way that we have seen God work.
I remember my first year meeting a girl named Genesis, and I just seriously felt so much love from her. I really learned what it was like to teach children about God and what so unique about teaching children about God as you're usually the one that ends up learning something it was beautiful to see their relationships that were made and all of the memories that have shaped peoples lives.
I have now been to Mexico three years in a row. Every single year I have had to go on a scholarship. Someone else in the church has paid for me, and although I'll never know that person or persons name, I am extremely grateful that they have shaped my life in a way that they will never fully understand.
Now, I am a sophomore in college, and I am working, I'm paying my ren,t and I'm learning what it's like to be independent and follow God with my money. I've decided that I am now old enough to pay forthis mission trip. However with paying rent utilities and life in general, paying with my own funds is seemingly impossible. But I do know that God works in mighty ways.
Despite how busy I get with college I still know that Mexico is somewhere that He's leading me, and it is somewhere that I can't even imagine not going to. I am continually being blessed by Mexico. and it's something that I don't even know if I can go a day without thinking about. I want other people to be able to share these blessings with me through donating for me to go on this Mexico mission trip. I know that there is another junior girl running around looking for a place that God called her, and I believe that that place is Mexico. I want to be able to fund myself on this mission trip to give her a chance to experience what I did when I couldn't pay my own way.
