24 Hour World Championships

Donation protected
I have been selected to represent the United States as part of the 2015 U.S. National 24 Hour Ultra Running Team competing in Torino, Italy on April 11-12, 2015. I have worked really hard to get to this goal and have been given the chance to compete with some world class athletes. Traveling to and competing in Italy will be a once in a lifetime experience and at the urging of friends I have decided to do some fund raising to defer some of the costs involved.

I am bringing my wife Donna along with me as my coach. The kids will be coming along as well, I couldn't see doing such an awesome thing as representing the USA in an international competition and not having them there to cheer me on!

For those who don't know me I am an Ultra Runner from New Jersey where I live with my wife and 3 kids. I am 41 years old. I work as a computer systems engineer and I love to spend my time running and being outdoors. I have been endurance running for a little more than 5 years and I am amazed at how far I have come in that short amount of time.

To qualify for the US team I competed in two 24 hour runs in 2014. In a 24 hour race you run around a looped course anywhere from 400meters to a few miles or more. The object is to complete as many miles as possible in 24 hours. Yes you read that right. Running for 24 hours. Yes, you can stop. Yes, you can eat, sleep and go to the bathroom as needed but you are not scoring any more distance as you do those things.

In September I won the Hinson Lake 24 Hour Classic in Rockingham, NC on a 1.5 mile loop around a beautiful lake with 142+miles completed.  This qualified me for the team but only the top 6 runners are invited to team USA. I was in 6th but it wasn't long before another man ran further in different race and pushed me down in the rankings.

I decided to give making the team one more shot under better conditions at the Desert Solstice 24 Hour Run in Phoenix, AZ. 24 hours of running on a high school track competing with some of the best ultra-runners in the US, Canada and Sweden I was able to get to 146.969 securing the 5th spot on the team.

If you would like to support my efforts to represent the USA as I compete in the World Championships in Torino, Italy on April 11-12, 2015 please give if you can to this campaign.

Thank you very much for you generosity and support!
