Joe Lewellyn, a Marine veteran who served in Vietnam and lives in Joseph, Oregon resident, is an outdoor enthusiast who lost a leg two years ago to complications from Agent Orange exposure. His power wheelchair could not meet the demands of last year's heavy winter, so he spent several months mostly homebound. Joe applied to the Independence Fund in North Carolina for an Action Track Chair in November 2016 was gifted one in May 2017. When delivering the Track Chair, the vendor informed Joe that a shed is needed to protect the controls from moisture and rodent damage to the sensors.
The Enterprise (Oregon) VFW Post 4307 has agreed to build a shed, which will include a deck and electricity for charging the batteries.
Friends who want to Keep Joe Rolling are raising funds to buy building materials and construct the shed before the snow flies this fall. To complete this job before winter sets in is of utmost importance.
