6.5 years ago I first heard multiple sclerosis and my name in the same sentence. When it was confirmed later I was in shock...I couldn't believe it...
Things since Christmas this year have progressed rapidly. I lost all feeling in the left side of my body, my right leg and cannot walk without use of a cane or person to help me. I can't get in or out of a tub or my own bed alone. I can't wash or brush my own hair either.
I have 4 adult children and 2 minor children. I also have a new grandbababy.
Some of the symptoms may get a bit better, but prognosis is permanent damage.
I was just informed I have been accepted to the stemcell institute of America. If I can get the funds I will recieve 2 types of fetal stemcells. 1 to deal with the myelin stripping, the other to deal with the aging and stripping on the DNA strands. The prognosis is this will help or restore the lost use of my legs, my ballance, feeling in both legs, use of my left hand, the constant fatigue ( which presently keeps me from playing with my kids and grandchild ), help me sleep better,and reduce the brainfog that affects my ability to have conversations and my short term memory.
In short this could return my life to me.
I will still need to purchase a few items for the interm between now and when I can afford to get the therapy, that will help me to be independent...to watch my kids and grandchild grow and be present with them and not on the sidelines.
I need among other things forearm canes for good days, walker, scooter, ramps so I can get in and out of my house, renovations to the house so I can get around it, tub rails....the list is growing daily. Including more medical trips etc.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
