The Khushi Project

Hello beautiful people of the world. My name is Dikyi Ukyab and I am a singer based in Kathmandu and New York City. This July I am going back to Nepal with my friend Sangye Dolker to start a program that we call the Khushi (happiness) Project. We want to bring music and movement to children in rural areas affected by the Nepal earthquakes. Growing up art, music, movement, and creativity have been driving forces of well being and happiness to us. We want to extend the same joy back into the lives of our Nepali brothers and sisters. Through our project we hope to bring a few more smiles back to Nepal.

We are currently developing a schedule and working to connect with individuals, schools, and organizations with networks in need based areas. As our plan gets formalized we will update you all. For now we ask that you open your heart and pockets to donate anything you can. All funds will go to travel (in Nepal) and supplies for the trip. We will also be traveling alongside a nurse and carrying some essential medical supplies.

Our curriculum at each site will last for 3-5 days based on needs and circumstances. We will do workshops for singing, free movement, hula hooping, and flow arts. Our hope is to give Nepali children a safe space to be carefree and revitalize their creative minds in a time of great fear and sadness. Please help us spread some happiness and donate today.
