My name is Mandy and I need your support helping Kim fund her second trip to MD Anderson with the ongoing medical bills and the ongoing cost they are incurring from travel.

CANCER 

I never thought I’d be sharing something like this, but here I am. 

I have cancer.

It started with a precancerous tumor in my left ovary in 2016 that no one was worried about - they were just glad they caught it early and surgically removed it. Unfortunately in Jan 2021 I found out that it had turned into a cancerous tumor in the old incision that they had made above my belly button. I spent March and April of this year in Houston, TX at MD Anderson Cancer Center receiving radiation treatment. I had a CT scan in June that showed no evidence of disease - I was told I was in remission. I wanted it to be something that I dealt with and moved on from. I wanted to leave it in the past and didn’t want to make a big deal out of it so I didn’t post here, but it has turned into a bigger problem than expected. 

July came by and I started feeling bad. Several doctor visits, messages, phone calls, video visits, CT/PET scans, bloodwork etc later, and now I’ve been in the emergency room at MD Anderson for 6 days (with horrible abdominal spasms) waiting on them to decide on a treatment plan. It might be surgery and chemo, or just chemo. They did a biopsy Friday and the results came back positive for cancer today. It has spread to my omentum in several places. It also has created a small bowel partial obstruction (they say part of my bowel is basically attached/“stuck up to” to my abdominal wall). It’s causing these really fun intestinal spasms which led me to the MD Anderson ER on Thursday 8/12. I had an NG tube through my nose into my stomach for a couple days. They may or may not have to put it back. At this point we are just waiting on the doctors to all put their heads together and come up with a plan for my odd case.
