Surgery for Kira

Kira is a smart and sweet dog; she loves sleeping on her pink blankee and working in concert with the cats to steal treats from cabinets.

When I adopted her from the Scott County Humane Society, I knew she had a bad leg, but I was not prepared for how extensive and expensive her leg surgery would be.

Right now, she can't run, or go up and down stairs without tripping over her leg; and when it rains, her leg would hurt so much that she would lie on the bathroom floor and whine.

X-rays show that her femur and knee were shattered and grew into a single clump, and bone spurs grew into her hip joint.

After consulting with several vets, we decided to amputate her bad leg so she can have better mobility, and be free of chronic pain.
