Friends suggested that I set up this campaign for myself, describing my battle with this terribly painful disease, in hopes to raise money to fund my upcoming surgery on January 5th, 2016. My journey with an aggressive form of Endometriosis began years ago & by the time I had my first surgery in 2012, it was full blown stage 4 - the most severe. It ravaged and continues to grow on all my organs, not only reproductive, including my bladder, rectum, intestines, etc. I have already had 2 surgeries in under 2 years.
I have also had 2 ovarian cancer scares due to my ovaries growing very large cysts and Endo throwing the tests into giving false positives. Last year I had one the size of a grapefruit on my left ovary which caused me lots of pain. I am currently dealing with deep pain and have 4 fibroid tumors deeply imbedded in my uterus and 3 ovarian cysts. One cyst is shown to include both ovaries. On top of this, I now have Adenomyosis & bladder issues.
The emotional, physical, & financial toll has been extreme. I always wanted to be a mom the natural way but due to the severity & damage, I cannot. It feels as if this decision was taken from me but I am having to keep my faith and a positive attitude that God has a plan.
This will be my third and final surgery since I cannot continue to subject myself to the pain & stress anymore. My doctor agrees that a total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy is best for me due to my history. She will be removing everything including my uterus, ovaries, tubes, and cervix in hopes that this will end the majority of Endo and the pain. The decision to have everything removed is not a light decision. I know eventually I will be ok with it, but currently, I'm not dealing with it very well and not sure how I will be coping emotionally once it is over...It is a loss.
This money is for my surgery, post op/pre op visits, and to offset loss of income during recovery. My insurance doesn't cover as much as my last one so I have a high deductible/out of pocket of $6,350 before they cover 100%. I've been through major changes this year and now I am the only one to support myself. On top of the medical expense, I will be without pay from my work for at least a month also.
