KRUX 91.5 Antenna Upgrade

KRUX 91.5 is raising funds to upgrade our antenna to broadcast at 3,000 watts, an increase from our current 1,000 watts.
KRUX 91.5 has recently celebrated 25 years of broadcasting. KRUX is the only noncommercial, student-run radio station of it's kind in the area. We are committed to providing further educational opportunities and job skills for students pursuing a career in broadcast, journalism, and business. We are very passionate about the music we provide and the essence of college radio.
Our mission is to continuously provide the students of New Mexico State University and the community with an alternative choice in music and the passion that KRUX has carried since 1989.
We have completed the process of filing necessary paperwork with the FCC to upgrade our antenna and broadcast at 3,000 watts. This is a substantial increase from the 1,000 watts we currently broadcast at.
Why is this important?
Through the years there have been several attempts to move our transmission location, which have not prevailed. KRUX is currently staffed by 6 students and has over 20 volunteer DJs. It is our main goal and aspiration to make this move happen.
"This is my second year with KRUX and my seventh year in radio. I am confident that I have the staff and university support to make this happen. However, we depend largely on the support of those such as yourself and others in the community to make this a reality. The sad truth is across the nation college stations are being sold off by universities and the opportunities for students to have a state-of-the-art learning lab such as KRUX is diminishing. We hope to build a foundation for generations to come and preserve the posterity of KRUX" Robert Palacios, General Manager
Benefits of Raising Funds:
-KRUX is noncommercial and depends on the support of the community to provide students with a real world learning lab
-The station will have a further reach to support community and campus efforts through public service announcements
-Provide proof to the university that we do have community support and our voice is heard across New Mexico State University, Doña Ana County and beyond
-Allow for continuous support of students pursuing careers in broadcast, journalism and business
