Intl Service Learning Experience

2015 BSN International Service Learning Experience 
Who we are:
We are members of the first Bachelors of Nursing class at Ohio University, Zanesville.

What we are doing:
Our first year in the nursing program, a group of our class attended an Ohio Nursing Association Conference with the Student Nurse Association of Zanesville, a school leadership group.
During the conference, we became aware of international service learning opportunities. Once we returned to school, we began exploring the possibilities.
Over the past year and a half, we have researched and analyzed all aspects of coordinating a group international trip. Since we are the first group to do this, we are paving a path for others to take once we graduate.

Our Purpose:
To experience healthcare in another country
Interaction with other cultures, backgrounds, and lifestyles
Work with members of the local healthcare team
Apply some of the skills we have learned in the nursing program

Our Goals:
Develop our team building and leadership skills
Gain nursing experience we would not have in the United States
Experience a foreign culture

What we need:
Sponsors from community members and businesses
Donations from local businesses for fundraising purposes

Conclusion
Many of us attending the Service Learning Experience may never be able to participate in an opportunity like this again.
