Olivia's Medical Care in Guatemala

Olivia Gomez Guitz is in Need of Medical Treatment
Olivia is our daughter Maya's biological mom. Maya is age 10 and we just found Olivia and learned that she is a poor, indigenous woman living in Guatemala, age 31. We have a photo of the two of them together ten years ago through the adoption process. (Maya was four months old.) The contrast in how she looks is shocking. She is clearly very ill.
She lives in a home with an earthen floor and no walls.
(Plastic is used to keep out the persistent rain in the region.)
She speaks a native language (and not Spanish) and is illiterate.
She has had symptoms for the past year that might be serious.
A doctor whom we know through connections
has offered to treat her in his facility,
including an entire work-up, over one week.
The location is over 175 miles away.
For her comfort and security, she will travel with two female relatives whom she trusts and who speak Spanish and can translate for her.
We are seeking funding for the cost of her travel, medical tests, medication, and hotel and meals for one week.
We are paying for her care by creating debt for our family, which is a hardship because we are unemployed at the moment. Can you help to provide funds?
