She was working at Weaver Community Park when attacked about 11:26 p.m. on Tuesday, the Broward Sheriff's Office said. She was cleaning a public restroom when Davonte Shanard Johnson, 22, walked in and asked to use the toilet, according to the arrest report filed in the case.
DuJuan Johnson says she and Devonte Johnson are not related.
"I don't know him from nowhere," she said. "I've never seen him before."
As she tried to leave the restroom he placed his hand against her chest and neck, pushed her backward and pinned her against the restroom wall.
He pulled out a knife and stabbed her in her left side then slashed the left side of her chin. When she fought back he stabbed her in the left eye, DuJuan Johnson told investigators.
She fell to the floor, but as Davonte Johnson made a stabbing motion toward her head she reached up and grabbed the blade of the knife with both hands preventing him from stabbing her again.
"We were tussling with the knife and then somehow he cut my hand real deep and I let the knife go," she said. "And then he stabbed me in my eye."
She kept fighting and the knife fell to the floor. She picked it up and made a stabbing motion toward Davonte Johnson's abdomen but he jumped back and ran out of the restroom.
"The knife fell and then I picked the knife up and I was swinging it and he ran out of the bathroom," she said.
Investigators canvassed the park and found a witness who identified Davonte Johnson. The injured woman confirmed her attacker's identity from a series of photographs, detectives said.
According to the arrest report, Davonte Johnson admitted to stabbing DuJuan Johnson. No motive was mentioned in the report.
Davonte Johnson is being held without bond on a charge of premeditated attempted murder, jail records showed.
