To date we have donated over $92,000 to local students and organizations thanks to your continued support.

Thank you for your interest in making a contribution. The Thomas Gerlach Memorial Fund was established in 2010 to honor a wonderful person and coach, Tom Gerlach. The Fund has been set up to help local sports organizations and athletes. Your contribution is tax deductible as we are a Non-Profit 501(c)3 Corporation.

 

A lifelong resident of Smithfield, Tom was only 46 years old when he passed away. Throughout his youth and high school years Tom participated in many sports. As an athlete, Tom was known for his enthusiasm, effort, and commitment to his team. He carried this philosophy on to his adult years as a coach and mentor. He coached with the same vigor and enthusiasm he played with when he participated in sports. Tom was a constant presence on the ball fields around town and in the ice rinks around the state.

 

He would have a positive word for all the kids he coached believing they all were special and had something to contribute. Tom tried to instill in them a drive to be tenacious while playing and competing to the best of their abilities. Tom was known for taking a keen interest in those athletes who demonstrated passion and commitment. He would always take the time to encourage those kids who were working the hardest. It was not important to be the best, as long as you tried your hardest. It is in this spirit that we have created the Thomas Gerlach Memorial Fund.
