Flying Gypsies Hang Gliding Team

We are the Flying Gypsies. We're a group of young hang glider pilots united by our love for and commitment to the sport of hang gliding. We want to change the sport of hang gliding and bring the experience of flight to as many people as we possibly can. Unfortunately hang gliding has been dwindling in popularity for some time and has become a sport dominated by older pilots. We believe that this can change and that we can help change it. Our mission is to fly and to make a name for ourselves in the world of adventure recreation. 

Our Team is trying to raise some money to cover travel costs so that we can take part in competitions and go on a flying trip or two this summer. We want to let the world know of our presence in the sport and that it’s not just for old folks anymore. Our generation of young flyers are going to be the ones to redefine the sport and how the world sees it. We just need to be given the chance to fly and we can make this happen.


The trips that we are planning will involve three team pilot members and a driver/photographer. Our plan is to keep trips simple-small number of pilots in as few vehicles as possible- to make the most of whatever money we’re able to raise.

Team Gypsy has a 2013 Chevy Equinox. It’s a great car, great on gas. It can pull 2500 pounds, so a teardrop trailer will be used for hauling supplies and probably sleeping in.

Team Gypsy also has a 2005 E-450 28 foot motor-home at its disposal. The RV would allow us to travel with more gear, gliders, and pilots for longer but the gas it uses makes it prohibitively expensive and without adequate funding is not realistic.


We want to promote Hang gliding. We love it, and want to bring to a new generation of pilots. Any help that you could provide will be greatly appreciated.
