Lacy's Violin Fund

My name is Lacy - I've been playing violin since I was 3 years old; When I was 7, my teacher pushed my grandparents to move me to New York City  (from the rural south in Mississippi) to study at the perstigious Manhattan School Of Music for the Prep-division. I auditioned; and got in. I got a full ride for a few years; then a little assistants for the rest (luckily my great-grandmother helped us pay the rest of the tuition..but then she died) - from there I went on to study at California Institute of the Arts  ("CalArts")- receiveing my Bachelor's Degree in Violin Performance - I started my Master's Degree at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music - but due to financial issues I took a leave-of-absense.

As time has gone on, many teachers  and colleagues have expressed to me that my level of playing exceeds the level of my instrument. I've been playing on a sub-par instrument now for over 10 years and I just wish I could afford something better so I could sound even better!  - and generally have more confidence when I play in studio recording situations or big orchestra auditions...and also a decent bow helps!

As many of you know, a violin and a bow are not cheap things to purchase; especially for quality..

There's a  "Stopka" violin and a "Hill" bow I've had my eyes on for years now - at Metzler Violin Shop in Burbank - but with very little financial backing from my family;  although they would if they could <3 , I'm finding it impossible to ever be able to afford a violin I deserve in my near future and it makes me very sad. [and that was a major run-on-setence. This is why I'm not a journalist or an english major]
