San Bernardino Shooting Memorial

Blessings to all. This is Jason Church of Set Apart Disicples. I was born in San Bernardino. This area is what I have called home for most of my life.

After what happened  at the Inland Regional Center I felt indifferent, I felt, somehow, removed from the shooting. Come to find out that my aunt works with the clients there and one of the victims went to the church I just started going to.  

After a few days I went to the memorial site on Waterman and Orange. Media was there as well as two different churches praying for a multitude of people that came to pay their respects and were devestated by the terrble act that we could not believe happened here. I talked to a few pastors and journalists. But mostly I sat there and watched as person after person came to put candles, or stuffed animals, to put up posters, or just write their heart on one of the many posters that were already there. I couldnt take it. I started to tear up watching person after person come, broken by this. 

I talked to the city and they said that if the memorial site starts to encroach on the sidewalk or others property, or if it becomes onsitely then they would have to take it down. So, I took it upon myself to care for the site. I go everyday at least once to clean it up, pull dead flowers, pick up candles, stuffies and displays that have fallen and after the first rain I went and took some of the posters that were messed up to get laminated and put them back on the fence. I have done this a few times. So far I have done between 15-20 posters of different sizes. But my money is limited.  So I am asking help to continue doing this. These things that people write is from thier heart and soul and it just is not right that it would get washed away from some rain or torn down by some wind.

I contacted many local printing shops but none but one would help me with this. To give you an idea a medium size poster 22x28 cost $12 to get done. Does not sound like much but when you have 10 or so it can add up. And it never ends. Every time I go back I see more. I do not have much money, so now I am picking and choosing which one should get done. BUT I want to do them all.

Please, help me to keep this site beautiful for the victims and for the community who continually come to pay their repsects. I know that they community will be beyond thankful that their well wishes were not destroyed by bad weather.
