Lance Livingston is a wonderful person who always has a smile and a helping hand for friends, family and even strangers. He has worked at Colonial Lanes Bowling Center for over 35 years and it is his home. The staff and bowlers all know Lance and always have wonderful things to say about him.

Because almost everyone who passes through Colonial Lanes meets Lance, most people know that over the years, he has had various medical issues.  Some may not know that Lance's first surgery was at 6 months old.  He was born with Hydrocephalus, a buildup of fluid around the brain that does not drain properly.  This caused him other issues throughout his life, including some seizures, and his condition has required constant monitoring and adjustments.  In early March of this year, Lance had to be admitted to the hospital with bleeding on his brain. He was unconscious and it was an hour by hour, day by day wait to see if he would pull through.  The initial prognosis when he was admitted was that he was not going to make it. But he did.  He fought hard and made it through those first tenuous days.  Since that point, it has been a seesaw effort to track and attack multiple medical issues that have arisen.  He has had multiple surgeries to relieve pressure on his brain as well as having a pacemaker placed, removed, and placed again.  But through it all, Lance's focus has been, "When can I go back to work?"

He stayed strong through it all and has made tremendous strides in his recovery.  He is out of the hospital and on his way to an assisted living facility to continue his rehabilitation.  He is smiling and joking, returning to his old self.  What is on his mind now, besides returning to work, is the cost of his medical care.  Because of the neurological complications associated with his condition, he experiences some memory issues, and these worsened in the weeks leading up to his hospitalization.  During this time, he was in the process of changing his insurance over to a new carrier because of new laws and procedures.  Devestatingly, he did not complete the process and no one thought to follow up with him, since he did not show many outward signs he was having any issues.  He was left without insurance when his medical issues escalated.

His family is there everyday for him and they are doing everything they can to help him.  But no one expects to be in this situation and they need help so they can help him. Lance is a special person who is always working hard and loves helping bowlers...now it's time for his bowling family to show their support and lend a hand, as he would do for all of us. A little or a lot, every dollar will go toward helping ease Lance's mind about his bills so he can focus on his recovery.  If you would prefer to make a donation in person, please contact Jennifer at Colonial Lanes.
