Lisa's Battle With Cancer

UPDATE 19th October 2016.  Please see bottom of page

As a single mother the stresses of life are difficult. I work hard to provide for my two lovely boys, Harrison and Bailey  who I'm very proud of. All my life I have worked to create happiness for everyone around me without being asked its just what I have always  done.

In 2013 I was diagnosed with Cancer of the liver. This came as a shock to all my friends and family and something like that changes your perspective on life. I was able to have an operation that removed a third of my liver expelling the Cancer. With regular scans, I continued my life trying to make the most of the precious time I have. A few weeks ago I was taken into hospital with a stomach pains. The doctor performed a scan that revealed my Cancer had returned. This time in my liver and lungs. I can never describe the feeling you get when you are told news like this nobody ever can. I was offered the strongest Chemotherapy by a specialist from the NHS possibly extending my life by a month. However, I don't want to spend the little time I have feeling ill  and my boys having to see me suffer so much. I am not willing to give up the fight. There is a new treatment called immunotherapy which is unavailable on the NHS for my Cancer. It is available privately but this comes at a cost. I am trying my best to get funds together to pay for treatment but it is not easy as I am self - employed and unable to work.

There are many things that you could spend money on however, I feel life is something worth much more than that. My family and I would appreciate anything you can give to help pay for my treatment. It would mean the world to me and my boys.

Thank you,

UPDATE:-

Dear friends of Lisa, I've spoken with Lisa this morning and she's asked me to write on her behalf. She is very concerned that she can't reply to all your loving and encouraging messages individually but is overwhelmed by your support. Unfortunately she has now learned that immunotherapy is unlikely to help her, even if it were available at this stage. She is going to have a different type of chemotherapy to try to prolong her life and they are doing tests on her for possible trials. Therefore, Lisa now only has very little time left with her boys and loved ones as her cancer is so aggressive and incurable:-(. As you can imagine, she is not only distraught about this but feels worried that so many have given money towards it. I have assured her, and I'm sure you'll agree, that all funds are intended to improve the quality of life for her, Harrison and Bailey, no matter how - she is at the centre of our concern and it doesn't matter if it is spent on therapy or a holiday all together or travel to a specialist abroad - or all of these things. So let's keep up the fundraising so that anything she needs can be provided.
Regards Pam
