Help Lix Go To London (And Stay!)

Spende geschützt
Hi! Welcome to my campaign. I'm flying to London on April 28 and I'm trying to make enough money to extend my stay as long as possible and kickstart my photography career. Want to help me out? Find out what's in it for you? Keep reading!

My name is Lix, I'm 24 and I live in a small city in Spain called Ciudad Real. I'm a multipassionate creative; I have two shops on Etsy, one where I sell photography prints and one where I offer graphic design work. I have a photography portfolio with examples of my fine art (nature, travel), street and modeling work, and I run a personal blog at A Classic Notion where I talk about everything from fashion to travel and share the day by day of my work and life.

(That's my cat. I'm going to miss him dearly. Check out my Instagram for more cat lady goodness.)

I've wanted to live in England since I was in my early teens. I finally got a chance to visit thanks to an ESL-learning scholarship the Spanish ministry used to offer; I spent three weeks in London in 2007 and fell in love with it, and I spent three weeks in Oxford in 2008 and never wanted to come back. These are places where I feel at home, where I want to go out and explore with my camera, where I can walk for hours without being tired, and if my feet hurt, well, it would hurt more not to keep walking. These are places that inspire me, and these are places where, well, I can easily find work online.

It seems so callous to say, maybe naïve, but over the years I've gravitated into an online space where I mostly talk to people who aren't in my country. I don't know how to market myself here, or find opportunities; I've looked and there don't seem to be any. That's why, for the past year and a half, I've focused on graphic design and selling my work on Etsy "” things that don't require my presence.

(A standard page of my blog, which I designed, and a look at my portfolio, which I also designed.)

But I've also been dabbling in freelance photography, and I've realized my camera is where my creativity lies. I want to take pictures of "” in the words of April Ludgate "” people and places and things! I want to work in portraiture and fashion, I want to grow up to shoot weddings, and I love doing photography for independent and handmade sellers as well.

I really want to give myself a chance to explore this and maybe make a living out of it, and I think the UK "” particularly London, but I'm looking at Oxford as a place to stay as well "” is the right place for me to be. And I could use your help!

Hire me!

Donations are absolutely welcome, but I really want to make my portfolio show what I can do, and I'm looking at this trip to London as a fantastic chance to make that happen "” and fund the trip itself at the same time! There's a rundown of what I offer (and my starting-out rates!) on the services page of my portfolio, but I'll give you a quick list of what you can book me to do right here:

- portrait photography
- product photography, styled and white background
- real estate photography
- modeling work
- design/photography work - catalogs, lookbooks

I offer mini portrait sessions for bloggers, and for this campaign, I can offer:

- complimentary catalog design if you hire me as a product photographer
- 50% off website design if you hire me as a real estate photographer
- special fashion blogger sessions - get together with other bloggers, chip in for a package, arrange a meeting time and let's have fun!

I'm also available for test shoots and collaborations, but as you can imagine, I have to prioritize paid work over unpaid. I'm also happy to write, proofread and translate from English to Spanish, and collaborate with brands on my blog! I take excellent pictures, and my stats are growing daily. ;)

If you want to arrange a booking, I am available on Twitter and by email at lixhewettphotography at gmail.com; you can also ask any questions you have at the bottom of my page, and I'll do my best to answer them!

The wishlist explained:

1) If I make 720€, I'll be able to stay in London for one week. I've already booked a one-way ticket on April 28, and a hotel room for one week that I'll split with a friend who goes back home (to Estonia) on May 5.

2) If I make 1,200€, I'll be able to extend my stay even if I don't find a full-time job or accommodation right away. I will be looking at flatshares in Oxford and London, and work the whole way through my stay.

3) If I make 1,800€, I will breathe easy - it's enough to cover my half of the hotel room and a month's rent (and deposit!) on a relatively affordable place! Plus, I'll have a whole month to book sessions and collaborations... and maybe, just maybe, I'll be able to stay for good in the UK!

Want to help me out? Why, that's so great! Let's get talking!
