I am Theresa and I have a special and urgent request from my sister Lucie in Columbus Ohio, in the States who is being treated for breast cancer. I thought it was good for you to hear her story from her. Please consider whether you are able to give financially to help her clear her medical bill and continue and finish the treatment. Hi, everyone. My name is Lucie, I live in Columbus, OH with my two preteen sons. I am putting together this fundraiser to raise some funds to cover ecxess medical bills for the treatment of breast cancer. Some of my medical bills are taken care of by insurance, however, there is an excess remaining that insurance does not cover and I do not have the resource to meed this need.
I am currently not working and so I am not recieving any salary.
This fundraiser will end on Saturday 26 November 2016, so if you are able, please consider donating towards this cause.
When I was diagnosed with breast cancer my sense of normalcy faded rapidly. What I found most difficult to understand was why, at my age with two young children, I had to face this battle. Cancer. Now many months on and under the care of the Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center and the The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center (OSUCCC) I tackle my condition with a regenerated, renewed and positive perspective on my life.
Very quickly I had to decide to live my life with cancer or just live my life despite cancer. Many people live with situations that are rough, and by God’s grace, I instinctively knew that I could I live my life and be fulfilled.
Being told that my condition was incurable and fatal with an outside chance of less than a couple of years to live felt like a very limiting blow. Almost like having the air sucked out of you momentarily! However, I began to understand more fully what my faith had been preparing me for up until that point in my life and that God is limitless and there are no earthly confines to His faithfulness and ability.
Life has been more challenging after the breast cancer diagnosis, especially learning to adjust to some of the physical changes brought on by the condition. having said this, and by far greater than that, my life has been and is an absolute blessing. I am re- learning to use my left arm and hand as my left brachial plexus was damaged by a metastatic tumor.
Since the diagnosis I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from family, friends, coworkers, and acquaintances, and I could not have endured the physical and mental struggles of a cancer battle without the prayers and generosity of those around me.
I have been so fortunate to be on Family Medical Leave (FMLA) while I receive ongoing medical treatments, as this alleviates undue stress over my job security, however, as I mentioned I do not receive a salary at the moment and I am living off my insurance which is minimal taking care of the basics, my preteen boys, rent, food, transportation etc.
At this point in time I need financial help to cover excess medical bills to the tune of £60,000, while I am on long term medical leave as I my in surance cannot cover everything. I need the money fairly urgently so that I can cover oustanding bills and my treatment can continue.
I would therefore be very grateful if you could consider and give any financial assistance you can offer to help me pay for these outstanding costs.
