“…to build and safeguard a fair, free and open society, in which we seek to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community and in which no-one is enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity." ( the Liberal Democrat Party Constitution)
My name is Leon Duveen and I am standing as the Liberal Democrat candidate for Bassetlaw in the General Election on May 7th 2015. I have lived in Worksop with my wife and 3 children for over 25
years. After leaving school at 16, I have done a number of different jobs in my life including being a soldier, working on a farm, driving vans & taxis and, after going to university as a mature student, as a Software Engineer providing IT services to the NHS, the last 18 months as a self-employed contractor. You can read all about me and my campaign on my website LD4Bassetlaw .
I became active with the Liberal Democrats after the 2010 General Election because they had been brave enough to step up to the plate when the country needed a stable government and neither Labour or the Tories won a majority outright. I knew then they would be attacked for going into Coalition with the Tories and felt that it was time to support the principles I had voted in a practical way.
The Liberal Democrat Party, including our local party here in Bassetlaw is not rich and unlike the Tories & Labour do not have rich backers (Unions or Businesses) to pay for the campaign. All we have are the support of ordinary people.
To fight the campaign here in Bassetlaw, we need to raise £2500, which compared to the sums Labour & the Tories will be spending is tiny. We have small amount already but need your help.
Every pound donated will be spent on the campaign going towards leafletsand boosting social media posts. No one working for the Liberal Democrats in Bassetlaw gets any money for what they do in the campaign; they do it because they believe in our message and making a difference for the people of Bassetlaw.
Please support us and donate to our campaign fund.
