Hi, my name is Roberta. I've never done anything like this and have always taken pride in being independent. I've been a single/divorced mom for about 23 years. Raising 4 kids and working my tail off to be sure they had everything they needed and most of what they wanted.
I've been sick for some time now. I've fought with my doctor for almost 4 years trying to get answers as to why. I finally had enough and turned into a person I didn't like very much, but got somewhere at last!
I had a CT scan which revealed a mass. Yep, you guessed it, Cancer! Since then, it's been an uphill battle trying to keep my head above water. Test after test, treatments, surgery. etc...
The mass was removed, I've had my top teeth removed and have had a tube placed in my ear. I still have more surgery to go through and also chemo treatments as well as radiation treatments. I will also need to have my bottom teeth removed before radiation can begin. At some point, I will of course like to have dentures. That can be costly and my insurance does not cover any of the dental procedures.
I have been disabled since 2005. Living on that small amount has proved to be nothing less than a headache! If I can't find a way to help pay for these costs, I will lose my car and my storage and possibly my apartment. Needless to say everything is falling far behind.
I'm not looking forward to a special diet, but we all need to do the things necessary to heal. This is also going to be an added expense that we just don't have the extra to cover.
I will be forever greatful for any support received. It will relieve some of the stress that has been slowly creeping into my life. I need to focus my energies on healing and not worrying about where the next meal comes from or how to cover the extra costs involved with treatment.
