Get a Car - Find a Job!
Donation protected
For the last four years, I have lost opportunities for jobs because I do not have "reliable personal transportation." I can't even apply for jobs that I used to do, such as working with the homeless or conducting surveys for the US Census Bureau, as they require a car. Even sedentary jobs, such as receptionist, require applicants to own cars. I have been looking for work throughout California & having a car would make it easier to get to potential employers. Public transportation is not always available or easily accessible in some areas. I have been looking for full time work since 2008 & I hope that this year I will finally get something. A car, along with insurance & gas, is the key to getting my life back on track. As a worker in the social services field, I am anxious to get back to work helping others, but I must first receive help from others. I am also a freelance writer, documenting my struggles to give hope to others in similar situations. Even if you can't help me, be of assistance to those around you. Everyone knows someone who could use a ride to the store, to appointments, or to or from work. So many people are too proud or embarrassed to ask for help. We are all in this together!
