Umatilla Community Center
Donation protected
Several community groups, organizations and individuals are joining together to renovate the Umatilla Senior Center. We have an amazing opportunity to have our funds, up to $5,000, matched DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR by the FORD INSTITUTE. The Umatilla Senior Center is an edifice that once was a vital part of the community. Below is a quick recap of our intentions with this civic project:
Purpose Statement
To enhance the utility of the Umatilla Senior Center, the cohort will paint the interior walls, replace flooring, and repurpose the facility in to the Umatilla Community Center, a provision that will serve groups and individuals of all ages and backgrounds throughout Western Umatilla and North Morrow counties of Oregon at little or no cost.
Outcome Statement
By enhancing and repurposing the Umatilla Community Center the cohort will provide a mechanism of empowerment for the community to generate a catalyst for community pride, change, and progress by providing a healthy, safe, desirable, and affordable venue for various community and private entities to convene, while improving the reputation of the City of Umatilla.
Our fundraising goal is $20,000.00 to complete this project. All donors will be named during our presentation to the community. Or, donations can be made to the Umatilla School District for the Umatilla Community Center Project. We are also looking for helping hands to join us in the labor of love in completing the project. (Dates and times to follow). Your generosity in contributing to this project is greatly appreciated.
(The West Umatilla Cohort 2 of the Ford Institution Leadership Program is an Institute whose primary method for achieving community vitality is through a series of training classes called the Ford Institute Leadership Program. The program is based on the belief that vital rural communities develop from a broad base of knowledgeable, skilled, and motivated leaders, a diversity of effective organizations, and productive collaborations among organizations).
