Brock & Corey's Wedding
Donación protegida
Many of our friends have been reaching out, asking how they can be a part of our wedding, and since we're coming down to the wire, we decided to create this campaign and ask for help. We would have considered postponing the wedding; however, with it being a destination wedding for not only us, but many of our guests- many have already purchased airfare, hotel, etc. We would also lose all of our deposits setting us further back financially, before even starting to plan a future wedding.
I guess this is where I get to introduce you to Corey and myself, and try to tell you our story.
Corey and I were introduced by a mutual friend. At the time, he lived in Indianapolis while I lived in Austin. We spoke for a few months before ever making the plunge into physically meeting for the first time. From the moment he picked me up from the airport, it was like a fairytale in the making and we were each other's happily ever after.
Upon meeting, there was a magic between us. We both knew immediately that we were going to be together for a very long time! I decided I would begin traveling back and forth between states. As a Massage Therapist and Reiki healer, I have always had the ability to find work rather quickly. Corey had just taken his dream job with the Health Department, and couldn't leave. It only made sense. At the same time, his roommate quit coming back to the apartment, and stopped paying rent. The universe was working to bring us together, even quicker than we had imagined: an opportunity for me to take over the second bedroom as a home studio and to begin creating a home with each other. It felt right! I had never felt so comfortable with someone else. We fit!
Six months later(31Dec13), my lease in Austin was up, so we decided to give up my apt, and make what we were creating in Indianapolis our home. That Christmas I proposed, and with lots of tears, Corey said yes!
Unfortunately, the longer I spent time in Indy, the more depressed I got. Indy was Corey's home, not mine.
It was then, we decided we would begin to look beyond
what was safe and find a new place to call home. It was very shortly there after we were guided to Seattle. Last Sept, we sold most of our furniture, hired movers for the rest, and set out to start a new life- a life that we got to create together!
Our life in Seattle has been incredible, and in so many ways, more than either of us could have ever hoped for. We immediately began making an amazing group of friends, and like we had hoped, have truly found a place to call home!!!
Unfortunately, my depression followed, and my ability to manifest a new practice quickly began to slip away. Corey was able to get a job out here before we left; but, with the cost of living being so much greater here than in Indy, still paying off a move, and with my practice now failing, we have begin to have no choice but to live off credit cards.
We had begun planning our wedding for 21Jun15, before the move. We chose Chicago because it is a commutable distance for his family & friends, while also a mid way point for all of my friends who will attend from around the country. It will be a sunset wedding on the beach... on the Summer Solstice no less! We are definitely trying to keep it a simple event, with as minimal expenses as possible. But, even the minimal expenses have become too much, and the credit cards are already about maxed out. As the past months have gone on, we have found ourselves needing to ask for help. This is not something either of us do well; however, we must in order for us to actually walk down the beach and say "I DO".
I have started working a second job, my depression has quickly disolved, and we have gotten a roommate to help with living expenses. Our financial situation is quickly moving into a place of recovery, but I'm afraid it won't be quick enough. With just over 6 weeks till our magical day, we need your help. Many of our friends have asked what they can do to help, so we created this acount to see how it goes. Anything you can do would be greatly apreciated!
