Marathon Community Theater

Hurricane Irma made landfall here in the Florida Keys only 20 miles south of our little Community Theater.

Quick History:
In 1944 A group of keys pioneers who wanted to create a means of self-expression and bring the performing arts to the Middle Florida Keys started Marathon Little Theater. At that time performing wherever they were able to. In 1995, with the help of our generous community, we purchased the building we are in now located at Mile Marker 49.5 Ocean side. In 2015 we successfully paid off the rest of our mortgage on the building, again with the help of our beloved community. Being the only community theater within 50 miles either way we have the fortune of being in such a great community. Our entire marathon community has been touched by this storm, which will not be forgotten any time soon.

Irma:
On September 9th and 10th Hurricane Irma made landfall within 20 miles of our theater as a category four. With winds in excess of 100 miles per hour our theater sustained a considerable amount of damage. 2 of our large AC units toppled onto the roof. Parts of the roof were lifted and removed due to the winds. This caused a considerable amount of rain and moisture to make its way into the building. Right now MCT is looking at repairs in excess of $100,000. We have had to cancel our entire 2017-2018 season in order to focus on the repairs to get us back on our feet. As a not for profit 501(c)(3) we rely on donations and our season in order to run. We are reaching out to anyone who has either been touched by our theater personally, a theater around them or the arts in general to please consider donating to our Hurricane Irma Relief Fund. Our motto has a been "Keeping Drama on Stage Since 1944" and we would like to bring the drama back to our community in the near future.

What is Needed:
               Roof - $103,000.00
               12 Ton AC Unit - $12,000.00
                5  and 3Ton AC Units - $10,000.00
                Mitigation and Reconstruction - $75,000.00
                Reflooring - $3,000.00

As you see, any amount you can spare will all go to good use and would help us get this done.

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at our campaign and have a beautiful day.

Thank You,
