Marie Waters - Starting Over

On Saturday 21st April 2018, our sister Marie’s life was shattered by a devastating fire at the home she’d only moved into 3 weeks ago. Marie was at work when the fire started but tragically, her beloved cat Meme appears to have perished in the blaze. Marie tried to get into the blazing lodge to save Meme and had to be dragged away.
The fire brigade said "The cause of the fire has been recorded as accidental, and at this point we think it was due to an electrical fault with a recently purchased second hand fridge. Warm weather like today will have made this item work harder than usual, and a fault may then have caused it to catch fire"
Marie has been left with nothing but the clothes on her back, contents of her handbag and her car. All her possessions, physical mementos of her life – as well as all of her documentation have gone.
We, as a family are doing our best to support her, as well as her friends but there is only so much we are able to do. Everyone is asking how they can help – so we have set-up this page for anyone that is able to support her in anyway. We are discovering that every little will help.
We've called this gofundme page 'Starting Over' because that's exactly what she has to do. She needs to replace all household items, clothes, shoes, documentation i.e. birth certificate, passport etc.
Anyone who knows Marie, will know that she puts everyone else before herself. She is one of the most giving people that we know and she expects nothing in return. Marie is working full time and pays her way in life – however, the scale of the practical items that must be replaced would overwhelm us all. Unfortunately, Marie had not got around to getting insurance cover for her belongings, having just moved in 3 weeks ago.
No amount of financial help will ever replace Meme or the personal, sentimental belongings that she’s lost but knowing that people are willing to support her, in this way, would greatly ease the burden of the practical process of starting over.
We love our sister very much and we wish that we were in a position to take care of everything for her but we need help. So, it goes without saying that anything you are able give would mean the world to her.
