Hey there, it's Maura now. All chemo'd up and ready to rumble. And by rumble I mean stare you down and say #fuckcancer.
You may know that I have not adopted the phrasing "fight" or "battle" for this encounter with a villain - I will not engage in the bullying it has beheld - I don't engage crazy and that is what cancer is. There is no game of win or lose. There is calling out and cleaning up - and my megaphone is art, my clean up crew is chemo.
I live in a powerhouse. And by powerhouse I mean a house that allows for the week after chemo which can be compared to "hell week" football style. It's a week where I wake up feeling like I was hit by every linebacker out there but am too tired to care and so clear that I have to sleep, wake up and feel it all over again because ITS GOOD FOR ME. (The only time in my son's life I ever saw him cry was hell week). But it's true after hell week, EVERYTHING is easier. But unlike football - mine are said to "get worse" -- so YAY! Go clean up crew! Imagine, six hell weeks that just get worse! That is so cool!
But cool in like a - yeah - I got nothing.
See, I'm doing fine. As my doctor says (and so far he's been nailing it) I will have a few good weeks. :)
It really is good.
As you can see though, my few good weeks are going to accumulate over the course of two and a half more months until Dec. 29th when no doubt on my last chemo day my doc says - get outta here.
Until then, what I am here on GOFUNDME for is so I can LIVE in the most basic way.
I must keep my mortgage company at bay and keep my lights on - that is a lot. It's more than I have been able to do for a while now - and it's exactly not possible to do bald and tired, believe me I keep trying.
