Center for Affordable Prosthetics

Donation protected
Growing up with a prosthetic limb is not easy. It takes a huge emotional toll on the child and they are subjected to bullying, teasing and self-esteem issues.

Most organizations, such as Takeaway.org and the Hospital for Special Surgery, estimate a new prosthetic can cost anywhere from a few thousand dollars to as much as $50,000.
For adults, those prosthetics are only designed to last an average 3-to-5 years. Children can require a new prosthetic as often as twice each year.

We can do better.

With advances in 3D printing, a new world of affordable, innovative prosthetics has emerged.

The Center for Affordable Prosthetics will help build a network of business, individuals and educational institutes all over the United States to help ensure we can provide these artifical limbs for as low as $300 to $500.
On top of that, the user can help customize the limb.

Prosthetics users are not less than you or I because of their perceived disablility. The truth is, they really are superheroes.

Together we can take advantage of 21st century technology in a way that makes a difference today.

Where the money will go

It costs a lot of money to start a nonprofit. Estimates are anywhere from $800-1200. We already have most of it done and the 501(c)3 is ready to go once we raise the funds.
Our founder has paid for everything else out of pocket up to this point.

Prosthetics will run $300 to $500 on average, plus we'll need to pay someone to work on the electronics, if applicable.

Pie in the sky:
The goal is set at $10,000 for now because we would like to have a 3D printer on hand as we begin to set up our network.
Most of the work we do will be funding businesses, individuals and organizations with access to their own printers.
