Mi Casa No Es Su Casa is teaming up with Grassroots Organizers from gentrified communities of all Five Boroughs to produce a series of illuminations across New York City.

During christmas of 2016 Bushwick witnessed phrases of illumination signs displayed in homes of peoples negatively affected by gentrification. Three of the twenty one signs read "No Me Mudo", "Gentrification is the New Colonialism", and "Bushwick Not For Sale".

In effort to stand in solidarity with other gentrified communities of NYC, we of Mi Casa have organized an "Illumination Sign-Creation Workshop" on Sunday 11 December 2016 at Mayday Space from 10am-10pm.

We are working diligently to organize Nights of Reveal across NYC. Please help by donating to pay for materials to create the signs.

Please visit our Facebook page to see photos of last year's installation. Also, reference the short video to see our process and impact.

Our project will light up New York City with anti-colonialism illiumination signs that would be displayed on home windows alongside holiday light decorations. With our fundraising goal of $1500, we'll be able to host a workshop at Mayday Space in which we'll teach up to 30 people how to create these brigades to illuminate the injustices of gentrification. The $600 will cover materials to create the signs as well as food for the workshop. Our goal is to collectively raise the money by Friday 25 November, 2016.

Our deadline is tight because we want our Workshop to coincide with the lights that are put up by homeowners and tenants during the holiday season.
