My name is Michael Pretorius. I am twenty two years old and call Nashville, TN home. I am a senior, studying Worship Arts at Trevecca University. Those I am closest to know me as a worship leader, athlete, coach, and friend. I simply want to ask those of you who are able to support me on behalf of my current condition to do so. Due to treatment school is going to be tough to navigate through this final Spring semester of my senior year. I will not be running Track as planned, nor will I be working. Every little bit helps and with enough support this chapter of my life will be closed without medical debt. Will you be part of my story...
MY STORY
Sharing my story has been deeply personal and has become a blessing in and of itself... if this battle has taught me one thing... it is that my God truly works all things for good...
When I was first diagnosed with testicular cancer my world was devastated. Thoughts that began to race through my mind were, "Why me?!" "I'm too young for this!" "My Father DIED, from this..." It was out of my control. I was angry, frustrated, and felt a sadness in the pit of my stomach more painful than anything I had ever felt before.
However... I decided it would NOT beat me. I would beat it. I had my surgery scheduled to remove my tumor three days later... everything went according to plan.
I have just finished my second round of chemotherepy and my body is responding well to treatment. I am expected to make a full recovery and all of my cancer should be eliminated by mid February.
Know that in this life, we are all faced with uncertainty and trials that are out of our control. I know now, more than ever, to trust God with everything that he has given to me for he is in control. I will chose to not worry about tomorrow, but live for today.
