Missing Father

See these kids?

These kids are missing their father. He's not dead; he isn't being held for ransom; he wasn't bitten by a shark; he's not serving in a war on the other side of the world... He has simply gone into hiding so he doesn't have to pay child support. He currently owes $18,000+ in back support for the oldest. We haven't seen a penny from him in years and years. He would owe more, but he won't even show up for a paternity test for the little guy, so he can't be held accountable for him yet. The court can't find him because he works under the table for cash.

See these other two?

Their father is only missing about 80% of the time. He will disappear back to Mexico for years at a time, without contact with them. When he comes back to the States, he'll see them once every few weeks, but never on any type of regular schedule. The court finally started taking money out of his check for child support, but it barely covers our rent.

I am asking for your help. These kids should not miss out on life because their mother has poor taste in men. It's not their fault that their fathers refuse to take responsibility and help support them. These kids have had pretty rough lives already. They deserve to be happy, and carefree. We haven't celebrated Christmas or birthdays or Easter in years. We've never had money. No trees, presents, stockings, talk of Santa, Easter baskets, birthday gifts...nothing. My littlest one doesn't even know what a present is.

Granted, we do have a roof over our heads (wasn't always the case), and food in our bellies. We are extremely grateful for that. But I would love to watch my kids laugh and play and socialize like others; to get new school clothes; to order yearbooks to relive their memories; to have winter coats in this Michigan weather (especially since they walk to school); to stop with friends after school for a slice of pizza once in a while; to look forward to Christmas morning; to not constantly worry about losing/making friends because they don't have anywhere near the same kind of resources as others.

Kids should never know the heartbreak of telling their father that they only have two pairs of jeans that fit for school, and having him say to their face, "That's not my problem..." He actually said that to my son today. That was the last straw. Now I'm asking for your help.

If you could spare a little support, I would do everything in my power to let them be kids again, including hiring a private detective to find the missing father. Thank you.
