My name is Irene Sidebe. I am a Communications major in my junior year at the University of Tampa in Florida. I aspire to be a Journalist, specializing in current international events and affairs. I am originally from Nairobi, Kenya, and I still travel back to my home during the summer breaks.
I have the amazing opportunity to go to California and participate in the first ever Face of Kenya USA competition. Women from Kenya who currently live in the U.S. compete in this pageant with the focus of raising money for different charities and programs in Kenya.
My fundraiser is for the Buruburu Baptist Church School, which provides education for special needs children. These children suffer from autism, cerebral palsy, Down's syndrome, and other physical and mental maladies. Supporting my campaign for the Face of Kenya USA means providing support for these children. More information about this insitution can be found here: http://buruburubaptistschool.com/
