After the Sirens

Donation protected
I have been a paramedic and EMS educator for over twenty six years. More importantly, I am a survivor of stress related illness.
I developed the emergency services stress awareness presentation “After the sirens; to the brink and back”, using my professional knowledge and intimate experiences as a sufferer of emergency services stress. The goal of the "After the sirens" campaign is to help other uniformed responders become more aware of the devastation a stress related illness can have if left unmanaged.
“After the sirens” is about the impact of stress on a once promising career, how each uniformed responder has the potential to fall, and what it looks like on the way to, and from the bottom. It is about the importance of appropriate stress management in sustaining one’s mental and physical health, and how proper stress management is essential to a long and prosperous career as a uniformed responder. It is about the hazards associated with failing to recognize there is an issue, and most importantly, it’s about realizing that asking for help is not a sign of weakness, but is a demonstration of strength.

Starting May 11, 2015 I will be embarking on a three week motorcycle journey from Halifax to Tennesee, and back to deliver the “After the sirens” presentation to 21 groups of emergency responders in ten provinces and states.
I have set up this gofundme account in hopes that those of you who are, or may know a uniformed responder, (paramedic, law enforcement, fire service, military, and others) will help me prevent someone else, perhaps someone you know, from falling as hard as I did.
Your donations will help me continue delivering the "After the sirens" campaign to uniformed responders across North America.
Thank you in advance on behalf of all uniformed responders for donating to the "After the sirens" campaign.
Sincerely
