Arts and culture are driving forces behind youth engagement, creative thinking, and the development of a positive morale. According to the “Coalition of Music Education,” exposure to and participation in musical activities produces respectful behaviour in children, and greatly improves their academic performances.
With “Music Is My Weapon” our ambition is to enrich, to enhance and to engage our local arts scene.
It all started when a team of three music industry professionals banded together to form a free mentorship program. Consisting of four phases – song writing, recording 101, music business and performing – this program captivated 8 youth and pointed them in the right direction.
All young artists and musicians deserve to create and share music. Finances are the greatest barrier holding back one third of Waterloo Region youth from honing their raw skills in music-related programs.
On September 18, 2015 Music Is My Weapon will be hosting their first annual Unplugged Concert Series at The Registry Theatre in Kitchener. All proceeds from the annual concert will go to a few local music schools within the region. These schools will then use the money to subsidize music lessons for youth within our region.
If you would like to make a donation to the cause you can change the life of a local youth and help them realize their dreams. Together, let’s make our local youth the best they can be. Together, let’s eliminate barriers.
