The Family Car is Toast

The family car that we use every day has finally bit the dust. With nearly 270,000 miles on the road it has had a good run, taking us to doctors appointments, work, and the grocery store. But now, it needs a new engine,  and soon.
For the last six weeks I have been working and doing repairs but my boss is at the end of his patience and I am afraid I will be fired soon.  Our friends can't really continue to drive me 40 miles each way to work and back.  Our savings and credit are completely gone.  
We've managed to track down a new engine. Unfortunantly , it costs over $2,000,  so we are asking for help. Please , please help. We have only two weeks to get this funded.
