Help My Brain Hate Me Less
Donation protected
August 7th, 2012 was the last truly pain-free day that I experienced. Since then I have been living with a debliatating neurological condition that doesn't even have a proper diagnostic term other than refractory pain. I am under the care of the Jefferson Headache Center in Philadelphia as well as my neurlogist in Richmond, Va. I have undergone a variety of treatments, none of which have given me more than a few days with little to no pain... before the broken glass being ground behind my left eye and all of the nausea comes back.
I write very candidly about my experience on my blog, My Brain Hates Me . No one should have to go through the pain I feel... but if you're hurting, I try to share the things I've learned along the way.
My care includes:
2 Neurologists in addition to her Primary Care Physician
Frequent in and outpatient hospitalizations for treatments
Regular trips (by car and train) from Richmond to Philadelphia and back
1 Therapist for Biofeedback Therapy (presently suspended due to cost)
Art Therapy to treat depression and anxiety caused by living in constant, debilitating pain
I am on disability and I receive retirement benefits through my former employer. My husband works full time and my husband and son do most of the house work. Currently, my retirement benfits (health insurance) is suspended because my long-term disability company denied my claim so I'm paying the full price for prescriptions. I do have Medicare through disability.
If you have anything to spare to help my family with my extensive medical bills and travel costs, or just to help them maintain a sane level of peaceful living, please consider donating.
If you can't donate, I simply ask that you share my story with your friends on Tumblr, Facebook, and Twitter...
Thank you so much for all of your support!
