DIY Mom Building Dream Kitchen

Donation protected
I've been working on building my dream kitchen, but time and funds have not been on my side. Meanwhile, my particle board kitchen continues to deteriorate and fall apart. The peninsula set of cabinets is currently supported with two 4 inch 2x2's. The bottom of the sink cabinet is badly damaged from an unchecked water leak from the previous owners, which as a temporary fix, is covered by a a 1x12 board. The flooring is old, chipped and cracking white 12x12 tile, which no matter how many times I seal the grout, it still looks terrible. The kitchen is outdated, and much too small for a family of five. After getting several quotes over the $10,000 mark, I decided I would build the cabinets myself. Being rather handy, and having Google as my backup, I felt fully confident that I'd be able to accomplish this. I have the tools, I have the know-how, and I have the means, but the funding isn't available as often as I'd like. Both my husband and I are paramedics for the local service, and we work exact opposite shifts, which also means I haven limited time to work on this project. If the extra funding were available, I would be able to take time off from work to get this done, as well as buy the remaining materials I need. The plans for the kitchen include two pantry cabinets, with a full extension pull out between them for cans, spices and such; wider cabinets on either side of the stove; a vent hood; a three drawer base cabinet in the peninsula; a ten inch deep, granite composite sink; and a stone counter top with a breakfast bar; new bamboo flooring. I can't wait to see the final product!
