My Sister's Place
“I still struggle with the fear of being alone, but being at MSP with others has given me great hope in my healing journey. MSP has helped me in many areas of my personal mental well-being. MSP has continued to run many groups that are helpful not only to me, but to many others. We are also able to take these teachings, and put them to good use in caring for ourselves, and others close to us.” – ‘Sue’
My Sisters’ Place, a program of CMHA Middlesex, located in London, Ontario is a welcoming and safe space for women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Many women are experiencing challenges with mental health, addictions, trauma, abuse and extreme poverty. At My Sisters’ Place, women can take a shower, do their laundry, access basic needs and have a nutritious meal – for some women this is their main meal of the day. Staff and volunteers welcome 100-150 women each day, offering wrap around supports for housing stability, safety, recovery and empowerment. In this warm and supportive community setting, sisterhood and mutual support is fostered and as a result, women thrive!
Unfortunately an unexpected sewage problem has drastically impacted our ability to provide services.
We currently do not have running water and our clients can no longer shower or receive warm meals at our facility. Instead our clients are using the washrooms of the London Police Station which is located near by.
Any and all donations will help as the repair costs were estimated at $30,000. The lawn needs to be dug and piping replaced. Any additional funds will be rolled into programs that support women in need.
Thank you for all of your help!
