Living with both kidneys removed
Donation protected
David and Patti Brewer, regular attendees at the First United Methodist Church Mount Vernon, are in dire need of assistance. They are both in their 50's and have had some hard luck over the last few years. Patti broke her back, had major surgery and had to go on disability. David was a truck driver and recently, thru blood work, found he had a blood disease inherited from his mother that was causing kidney failure. He had to have both kidneys removed and is on dialysis three times a week and is on the donation list for a new kidney. He now draws disability and because of that, they took away Patti's disability. Since he makes $100 too much over the amount alloted for them to receive any other kind of assistance, Patti is working at a hamburger stand to supplement their income.
