Jon Helgerson's Funeral Fund

Two drivers died and another one was injured in a three-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon in Trempealeau County.

The crash occurred at 2:48 p.m. on Highway 35/​54, just west of Sonsalla Road in the town of Trempealeau.

 
According to the Trempealeau County sheriff’s office, investigators at the scene determined that an eastbound pickup truck driven by James P. Harnish, 56, of Trempealeau crossed the center line and struck a westbound SUV, driven by Allison L. Nolan, 20, of Hastings, Minn. 

Nolan lost control of her SUV and rolled over in the westbound ditch.

The pickup then struck a westbound car driven by Jonathan L. Helgerson, 36, of Prairie du Chien, head on. Harnish and Helgerson were pronounced dead at the scene.

Nolan was flown to a local hospital with unknown injuries.

The crash remains under investigation. 

Jonathan L. Helgerson age 36 of Prairie du Chien and formerly of Bagley died as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Saturday, September 12, 2015 in Trempealeau County.  He was born February 3, 1979 in Prairie du Chien the son of Roger and Debra (Horstman) Helgerson Sr.  Jon will be remembered for having a passion for many things in life.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and cooking as he was always experimenting with different dishes.  His biggest passion in life was his time spent with his son Travis.  He is survived by his son Travis, his mother Debra (Scott) Day of Prairie du Chien, sisters, Rebecca Matthews of McGregor, IA, Elizabeth (Rick Bessel) Helgerson of Prairie du Chien, Patricia Helgerson of Hazel Green, WI, brothers, Billy Helgerson of Prairie du Chien and Roger Helgerson Jr. of Millville, WI.  He was preceded in death by his father, his maternal grandparents, paternal grandparents along with several aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel, Prairie du Chien, Rev. Stan Pegram officiating, with burial in the Bagley Cemetery in Bagley, WI.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 9:00 AM until the time of services.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
