Naustin's Gnomes, Planting a Garden of Hope & Love
Naustin's
Gnomes
Planting a
Garden of Hope & Love
We are raising money to
help one of our own; a Lucid Speech and Language Clinic, Inc. family in great
need. Naustin was diagnosed with high risk Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia
on April 28th of 2012
just days after his 3rd birthday.
Naustin's parents took
him to the doctor in April due to a fever and some regression in speech as well
as an unwillingness to walk. They were told to take Naustin home and
return if he did not start feeling better. They watched their baby become
more detached and distant and took him back right away. The doctor ran
some tests and told them to go to the hospital. Two days later they found
out their son had cancer.
The family spent the
month of May at Rady's Hospital in San Diego receiving chemo therapy. His
mother would not leave his side. After the month more testing was done
and it was found that not all of Naustin's cancer was gone and the new
treatment plan required more intense chemo therapy which is causing Naustin to
be very sick and tired. The treatment plan involves chemotherapy for 3 ½
years. He will have a weakened immune system, which means any infection
or fever will need to be treated through hospitalization.
Between insurance
deductibles, co-pays, transportation to and from the hospital, multiple
medications, only being able to maintain one income so that mom can stay home
and care for him, and the fact that they need to make a move to a healthier
house to keep Naustin safe, we can imagine the debt is adding up quickly.
His mother speaks of him missing a normal childhood while he goes through chemo
for these years and thinks about how this will affect his future. Let's
help give her one less thing to worry about.
All money collected will go DIRECTLY towards his family and paying medical
bills and other costs related to his treatment.
Thank you for helping the
Olsen family
