I Stand With Huntington

Update on 3/7/15
We have increased our goal to $4000 because our professional colleagues- Respiratory Care Practioners, Dietitians, Pharmacy Techs, Transporters, Housekeepers and others are being approached by another union (NUHW) looking to unionize them.
This could be as damaging to our culture as CNA for nurses would be. This is a fight for our culture- of cooperation, collboration and innovation. CNA supporting RNs have already proven how disruptive and divisive they can be- and then pretending it is us who oppose them who are the problem. Not true. It's the union, and it will only get worse if we allow them in our house.

iStand withHuntington was born when we decided we need to organize ourselves to oppose unionization of the nurses in our facility. A few disgruntled nurses contacted the California Nurses Association and all of a sudden working relationships changed as prounion supporters tried to garner more support. The employees working with CNA have used outright lies, deception and intimidation in their quest to get our money. A substantial number of us do not want to give up our voices and our ability to work directly with Administration to solve the challenges facing us today.
No employer is perfect, and neither is Huntington. We feel that Administration listens to us and works with us to make things better for our patients. No hospital with a union has the culture of caring and excellence that we have at Huntington. Many nurses leave our hospital and go work for a union facility. Months or a few years later they are back- because the collaboration and innovation we have at Huntington doesn't exist in union hospitals.
We have been frustrated because employees working with the CNA claim that the quality of care has taken a nose dive, nurses are never able to take breaks and that we are chronically understaffed. None of these are true- they are exaggerations of rare events. In addition, because of the activity around CNA another union has arrived to try to organize other employees including Transporters, Respiratory Care Pracitioners, Dietitians, Secreataries, Housekeepers, and others.
The CNA Supporters are paid by the union, and get food and tshirts and coaching from the CNA. Our iStand group is entirely self funded and the founders have generously ordered badges, badge reels, signs and other items. We've decided it's time to ask for help because we need to ramp up our efforts over the next 4-6 weeks to defeat CNA when it's time to vote.
We will use the money raised here to purchase Tshirts with our logo and other branded items. We will use it to fuel the fire to fight against unionization.
