Neighbours Without Borders
Donation protected
On July 13, our father and grandfather Abu Sheikh was attacked while walking home from the mosque in Saskatoon. (More here) . Men chased him and when he got inside, they threw bricks into the windows. Many of you have reached out to support our family in fixing the windows. Repairs are $20k, but luckily we had 90% covered by insurance. After many requests about whether we are accepting donations (while dealing with the traumatic event itself), we have decided that we want to cover the insurance premiums and deductibles ourselves, and here is what we will use any funds for:
We want to connect with our neighbors and reclaim the park in the neighborhood, so we can turn something ugly into something beautiful. We want our father and our neighbourhood to feel safe and loved. We will use the funds towards a response event 'Neighbours Without Borders', that we want to have on August 11. We want to stand together against what happened, and really connect with other residents for a joyful tea service Event details.
Thank you Saskatoon,
Sheikh Family
