First, thank you for your time, our names are Judith Samuels-Ramos & Savannah Springer. As we may know, Jamaica has unfortunately been devastated by Hurricane Melissa, ripping through the West side of the island. Parishes such as Saint Elizabeth, known to be the country's "bread basket" or its agricultural powerhouse have been devastated, leaving many of her residents homeless and left with very limited resources. While there are many large and macro level fundraisers with rallies for supplies being dispersed in coastal and large cities, I would like to focus on a specific District in the mountains. My family and their community in New Market area, Woodland, Springfield and Nightingale Grove District. Many of their homes have been blown away, farms ravaged, and generational estates of centuries destroyed. Our churches, our place of gathering and worship, broken down to rubble and schools have been left in disarray. Many of these residents are farmers, teachers, tailors and people who make our community invaluable. Many of our goods and crops reach as far as Kingston, Negril and Jamaica's tourist city Montego Bay feeding millions. All donations will go directly toward relief and recovery efforts. We plan to cover fuel and transport costs for dedicated volunteers willing to drive and deliver food, water and essential goods, distribute relief packages, and in the near future organize follow up trips. We’re working directly with trusted community members and local contacts in New Market, staying in constant communication to ensure that every dollar raised goes exactly where it’s needed. Our goal is to stabilize this region by restoring hope, rebuild the community and reach families who are struggling with your help. By donating, you give kids like the ones at Nightingale grove school a chance to smile bright again.
Out of many, one people.
